Father killed, son injured in highway crash

A father was killed and his son injured in a crash along a section of the North South Highway on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified by police as Kenneth Johnson of Red Ground in Old Harbour, St Catherine.

The police report that about 2:20 a.m. on February 10, Johnson was a passenger in a 2017 Toyota Axio motor car travelling along the highway. His son was the driver.

It is further reported that upon reaching a section of the highway in the vicinity of Golden Grove, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

Johnson sustained severe injuries and was assisted to the St Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver was warned for prosecution.

The Ocho Rios Traffic Department is probing the matter.
