St Andrew man charged with fraud after buying car and reclaiming $780,000 bank transfer

The police have charged a 31-year-old St Andrew man who allegedly bought a car, paid for it using a bank transfer and then disputed the transaction with his bank and got back his money.
Charged with obtaining goods by false pretence is Trevor Lewis.
The police report that in April, a man reportedly sold Lewis a 2012 Hyundai Elantra motor car for $780,000, which was paid by bank transfer.
According to the police, the complainant later discovered that the same amount was refunded after Lewis allegedly disputed the transaction.
When contacted, Lewis reportedly stated that he had sold the vehicle and would make arrangements to repay the money, the police reported.
A report was subsequently made to the police, and an investigation was launched.
Lewis was arrested during a targeted operation on Sunday, September 20, and later charged following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised.
