The Jamaica Customs Agency head office in Kingston was today evacuated following a security issue.
The agency said safety protocols were initiated, as the safety of staff, clients and other stakeholders is of the highest priority.
It said the police, the Jamaica Fire Brigade and other relevant authorities were alerted, and assessments are ongoing.
“The Jamaica Customs Agency treats all threats seriously and will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities as the assessments proceed,” the agency said in a statement on Wednesday.
The agency noted that its operations continue, as it has activated its business continuity protocols in order to minimise any significant impact on customers.
“Our online services remain available. Additionally, customers wishing to make in-person payments may do so at any other Customs location.”
