Arrest

A 23-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and robbery with aggravation for allegedly stabbing a man with a knife and using a pillow to suffocate him in McCooks Pen, Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Charged is Givannie McFarlane, otherwise called ‘Jio’, of a Kingston 20 address.

Reports from the Spanish Town police are that on Sunday, March 1, the complainant went to a house to collect a sum of money owed to him.

Upon entering the premises, he reportedly saw three men inside.

One of the men allegedly stabbed him in the neck and placed a pillow over his face in an apparent attempt to suffocate him.

The police say McFarlane then drove away in a Toyota motor car and made off with a Lenovo laptop, as well as the complainant’s bank and identification cards.

The matter was reported, prompting an investigation.

Detectives later obtained a warrant for McFarlane’s arrest.

He subsequently turned himself in to the police and was formally charged.

His court date is now being finalised.
