Dr Samar Rodriguez last saw her five-year-old daughter, Tau Kleio Rodriguez-Fairplay, over a year ago.
The Jamaican police have issued a high alert for missing British child, six-year-old Tau Kleio Rodriquez-Fairplay.
The police say Tau, who is from London, United Kingdom, was transported to Jamaica by one of her parents, and all efforts by her other parent to locate her have proven futile.
According to the police, Tau was reported missing on April 9.
She is of brown complexion, medium build and about three feet six inches tall. She was last seen a wearing a pink coat with butterflies.
The alert from the police came months after The Sunday Gleaner highlighted the anguish of her mother, Dr Samar Rodriguez, a London-based academic, who has been desperately searching for her.
Tau was abducted in February 2025 from her home in the United Kingdom by her other parent, Athena Belle-Fairplay, and taken to Jamaica.
Passport checks later confirmed Belle-Fairplay left the UK on February 3, arriving in Jamaica with Tau.
Despite securing a Supreme Court order for Tau’s return, Rodriguez says her daughter remains missing.
Rodriquez told The Sunday Gleaner at the time that she had pursued every legal and diplomatic avenue to bring Tau home; filing a criminal case against her ex-partner in the British High Court; submitting a Hague Convention application; and working with the Jamaican Central Authority (JCA).
She had raised concerns that her ex-partner may have been exploiting systemic biases, particularly around gender and homophobia to avoid scrutiny.
She also expressed anxiety that her ex-partner was relying on the JCA to not prioritise this matter due to homophobia, a concern she was assured would not influence the investigation.
The police have asked anyone knowing the whereabouts of Tau to contact the Black River Police 876-965-2232 at, the police emergency 119 number, or the nearest police station.
