Police in St Catherine are searching for those responsible responsible for the throat-slashing death of a 70-year-old farmer in Point Hill on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Harold Hanson, otherwise called 'Harry,' from Mendez district in Point Hill.

Police reports are that about 4:30 p.m. Friday Hanson went to his farm and did not return, and attempts to contact him failed.

Relatives and residents who went in search of him found him about 9:30 pm, with his throat slashed.

On arrival, Point Hill police reportedly found Hanson lying on his back in his farm, still clutching a machete, with a wound to his neck.

The scene was processed and the body removed to a funeral home pending a post-mortem examination.
