Armed robbers allegedly stole close to $2 million dollars from a Western Union location along Shortwood Road in St Andrew, near midday on Saturday.
Preliminary reports indicate the incident occurred about 11:40 am, when armed men arrived in a white Toyota Probox motor car, beat a security guard stationed outside, and forced their way into the establishment before making off with the cash.
Explosions were heard at the time of the incident, prompting residents to alert the police, who are now at the scene.
The two-million-dollar figure is preliminary and subject to revision as investigations continue.
