A 49-year-old Portmore, St Catherine man has been fined a total of $1.5 million or nine months in prison after pleading guilty to selling cocaine at his home.
Douglas Forbes, of Independence City, pleaded guilty to charges of possession of cocaine and dealing in cocaine in the St Catherine Parish Court.
He was fined $500,000 or four months in prison for possession, and $1 million or nine months for dealing, by Parish Court Judge Gennetta Smikle.
The sentences are to run concurrently.
Before sentencing, Forbes’ attorney, Atiba Dyer, asked the court for leniency.
However, the court was informed that Forbes has previous convictions for drug-related offences and possession of counterfeit money.
The facts are that on January 4, 2026, police executed a search warrant at Forbes’ home. During the search, a white powdery substance resembling cocaine, weighing 15 grams, was found.
He was subsequently arrested and charged.
