Angela Rose-Howell is expected to take over the leadership of Jamaica’s consulate in Miami, Florida, while Beverley Johnson-Green has been appointed as Jamaica’s honorary consul in Birmingham, England.

The Gleaner understands that Rose-Howell is to be appointed to the post of Officer in Charge.

She will fill the vacancy at the Miami Consulate created when former Consul General Oliver Mair was appointed Jamaica’s new Consul General in New York.

Rose-Howell previously served as Jamaica’s Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Senior Director of the Multilateral Affairs Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

The Ministry is expected to make an announcement soon.

Meanwhile, regarding Johnson-Green, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, which announced the appointment, said she will support the work of Jamaica’s High Commission in London.

She will be involved in the commission’s outreach across Birmingham and the wider Midlands, facilitate consular services, promote Jamaican culture and heritage, and help foster commercial and community partnerships that benefit Jamaicans at home and abroad.

The Consulate of Jamaica in Birmingham is expected to open in September 2026.

In welcoming the appointment, Alexander Williams, High Commissioner for Jamaica, said Johnson-Green’s distinguished record of leadership, her deep connection to the Jamaican community, and her unwavering commitment to service make her exceptionally well suited for the role.

“Birmingham and the Midlands are home to one of Jamaica’s most dynamic Diaspora populations, and I am confident that Ms Johnson-Green will bring energy, professionalism, and compassion to the consular responsibilities entrusted to her. Her appointment strengthens our ability to support Jamaicans across the Midlands and to advance Jamaica’s interests with dignity and purpose.”

Johnson-Green, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of JLB International (Shipping) Limited, brings more than three decades of leadership experience in international shipping, logistics and business development.

As CEO of JLB International, she has been instrumental in strengthening commercial links between Jamaica, the United Kingdom and global markets.

Her longstanding commitment to excellence, integrity and service has earned her the respect of both the Jamaican Diaspora and the business community.

The Ministry’s news release said that, beyond her professional achievements, Johnson-Green has been an active supporter of Jamaican cultural, educational and philanthropic initiatives throughout the Midlands.

It said her appointment reflects Jamaica’s continued commitment to deepening engagement with its Diaspora, expanding consular access and strengthening cooperation in one of the UK’s most vibrant and diverse regions.
