The Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ) once again brought Christmas cheer to the Greenwich Farm community through its annual outreach activities, marking 32 consecutive years of giving back to students and senior citizens during the festive season.

The association hosted its annual Christmas treat for students of the Marcus Garvey Basic School last Wednesday, filling the campus with laughter, excitement, and holiday spirit. Students enjoyed treats, gift, and quality interaction with members of the SAJ team, creating memories that reflected the true meaning of the season.

Principal of the Marcus Garvey Basic School, Judonna Smikle, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the association for its long-standing commitment to the school. She noted that the annual treat has become a highly anticipated event and praised the SAJ for consistently supporting the development and well-being of the children.

The spirit of giving continued the following day as the association distributed Christmas hampers to elderly residents of the Greenwich Farm community. The initiative was led by SAJ President Corah Ann Robertson-Sylvester, who personally spearheaded the distribution and spent time engaging with the recipients.

Father Patrick from the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church also expressed appreciation on behalf of the elderly, commending the association for its compassion, generosity, and unwavering dedication to community upliftment, particularly at Christmas.

Both events were marked by warm smiles, meaningful conversations, and genuine connections among SAJ staff, students, and senior citizens. This year’s outreach underscored the association’s continued commitment to social responsibility and its belief in giving back to the communities it serves.

The association celebrates more than three decades of this cherished tradition. Its continued investment in people, both young and old, remains a powerful reminder that the true spirit of Christmas lies in service, kindness, and community.
