Bail was today refused in the St Catherine Parish Court for a man who allegedly attacked his brother with a machete as he left a police station, where he had gone to file a report against him following a disagreement.
Robert McKellop, of Browns Hall district, who is charged with wounding with intent, was remanded to return to court on February 10.
A new attempt is expected to be made for bail when the case is again heard.
In opposing bail in court today, the Clerk of the Court argued that the man’s action was premeditated, that he and his brother live within the same space, and that there is a risk of reoffending, and that the case is likely to result in a conviction.
"The accused has shown a clear pattern that he intended to harm the complainant even after he had reported the matter to the police," the clerk argued.
Allegations are that on October 22, 2025, the complainant and the accused had a disagreement.
The complainant went to the police and filed a report.
On departing the station, the complainant was allegedly attacked by his brother with a machete, who was chopped several times in the upper body.
The injured man reportedly returned to the station with the machete and advised the police of what had happened.
His brother was arrested and later charged after a question-and-answer session.
