Had a good night’s rest last night?
How are things generally?
Relationships good?
How about job/career?
Making ends meet?
Happy most times and know why?
Unhappy most times and don’t know why?
Sleepless nights?
Have you been praying/seeking counselling if affected by any of the negatives above?
Pained by the disaster which turned his life upside down, Job, a once healthy and wealthy man, said,” mortals born of woman are of few days and full of trouble.” However, still wise and patient, he never totally gave up on life or God. Later on in life, he recovered much more than he lost, and enjoyed a long, successful and fruitful life. Long Bible story. You’ll find it fruitful reading it for yourself. Be wise! The Jamaican proverb that says: e very weh yuh tun, maka juk yuh, means everywhere you go, trouble follows you. Yes, life can be difficult at times but, as they say, “where there is life there is hope”. And hope is lifegiving. Let’s press on!
Many of those things that mess up our lives at times, causing us sleeplessness and unhappiness, have one simple solution. So simple that you could walk pass it on your way to the bank to borrow money to pay for the professional remedy which could end up worsening the situation rather than correcting it. Careful!
Ever heard these words? “Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath”. If the “sun goes down on your wrath, it could affect every facet of your life: career, relationships, employment, happiness, freedom etc. The book says, “ Man’s wrath is rooted in personal grievances, perceived wrongs, or a desire for revenge. Unlike God’s wrath, which is justified and righteous, man’s wrath is characterized by selfishness, cruelty, and a lack of divine purpose. “ A wrathful man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger allays contention.” Take heed. Another deadly thing about human wrath is that it will cause the wrathful person to rejoice over the damage caused by his wrath. That’s evil!
The biblical instruction, “do not allow the sun to go down on your wrath”, means that you should resolve anger, conflict, or grievances before the day ends to prevent bitterness from festering, giving evil a foothold in your life. Going to sleep with bitterness in the heart results in a weakened immune system, cardiovascular issues, digestive problems and sleep disturbances, just to name a few of those ills! Deal with the hurt promptly, or it could hurt you indefinitely.
Addressing a grievous matter before going to sleep at night is a call for timely emotional processing, reconciliation, and releasing negative feelings to God, rather than letting them build up and cause you harm even while you sleep. Can you imagine not being granted the privilege of R.I.P. because the sun went down on someone’s wrath?? WOW!! So, it’s important to deal with the wrath immediately and find peace immediately. Peace is too priceless for some not to cultivate and protect. Getting my drift? Deal with those rifts pronto!
Acknowledge your anger but don’t let it control your actions. Seek to resolve conflicts quickly and peacefully. If resolution isn’t possible, like I said, release the hurt and anger to God before sleep, forgiving the person or situation.Do not let the sun go down on your wrath. A good, nice, sweet, peaceful night’s rest is far less expensive and far more valuable than a night of tossing and turning which leaves one tired by daybreak, all because of a prideful reluctance to do the right thing.
Do the right thing and have a good night’s rest tonight.
Blessings
