St James man charged for allegedly throwing live rounds into fire, ammunition seized

A St James man who was accosted by the police after explosions were heard at his home and it was later revealed that he had been throwing live rounds into a fire has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and dealing in a prohibited weapon.
He is 32-year-old Andell White, a landscaper of Brandon Hill.
Reports from the Barnett Street police state that about 9:30 p.m. on Friday, January 9, officers went to a premises in the Appleton Hall area after receiving reports of gunshots.
Upon their arrival, White reportedly told the police that the explosions heard were the result of him throwing several live rounds into a fire.
The police said White then led members of the team to a section of the yard, where he retrieved and handed over a plastic bag containing thirty-nine .38 rounds.
Following the handover, White reportedly told the police that he had found and hidden the ammunition more than a month earlier.
He was taken into custody and charged on Saturday, January 10, following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of two justices of the peace.
A court date is now being finalised.
