RJRGLEANER's parent company announces board shake-up, new committee structure

Radio Jamaica Limited (RJL), parent company of the RJRGLEANER Communications Group, has announced changes to its board of directors and committee leadership as part of a strategic governance review.

Four directors - Lisa Gaye Johnston, Dr David McBean, Elizabeth Ann Jones, and Minna Israel - stepped down effective January 12. The company thanked them for "their years of service, sound judgment, and meaningful contributions to the group’".

Four new directors have since been appointed: commercial attorney and governance specialist Novar Patrick McDonald; governance, risk and compliance executive Judith Chung; international media and digital strategist Inés Pacheco; and technology and digital transformation leader Nicki Purcell.

"These appointments strengthen the board’s capacity as the Group continues to evolve its business, digital platforms, and editorial offerings in a rapidly changing media environment," said the listed company in a statement filed with the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Tuesday.

The company said it has also refreshed the board's committee structure to enhance oversight in key areas including corporate governance, audit, risk and compliance, people and culture, digital strategy, and editorial standards.

Group Executive Chairman Joseph M. Matalon said the changes reflect RJL’s commitment to “strong governance and future readiness”.

“The new appointments bring a depth of expertise that will support the Group as we advance our digital transformation while safeguarding editorial integrity,” he said.

RJL is the holding company for the RJRGLEANER Communications Group, formed in 2016 through the amalgamation of the RJR Communications Group and The Gleaner Company (Media) Limited
