The case involving a St Catherine man accused of shooting a 13-year-old girl on New Year’s Day has been transferred to the High Division of the Gun Court.
Aaron Ornaldo Esty, 37, a mason from Braeton, Portmore, also known as 'Cone Head,' appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday. Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle ordered that he be remanded to appear in the Gun Court on February 6.
It is alleged that the girl was watching fireworks at her home on Dreamland Drive in Greater Portmore on January 1 when an explosion was heard. She was discovered with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the lower body.
During a search of Esty’s bedroom on January 6, police reportedly found a .45 Colt MK4 pistol with one round of ammunition.
Esty was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and wounding with intent.
