Motorists using the Port Henderson Road / George Lee Boulevard intersection in Portmore, St Catherine are being advised to expect delays as the roadway will be reduced to single lane access, in the vicinity of Bayside, to undertake repairs.
The National Works Agency (NWA) says the lane closure, which will run for a week starting on Thursday, is to facilitate the replacement of a burnt-out culvert pipe that has resulted in a failure along the heavy-used corridor.
Communication Officer Natalee Bloomfield, in a release today, said the excavation, culvert replacement, and backfilling works are scheduled to be done between o9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. over the course of two days.
It was indicated that the roadway is expected to be fully reinstated and asphalted within a week.
The NWA stated that single lane access will be maintained during the course of the project, which is valued at $3.7 million.
Motorists are being advised to exercise extreme caution while using the roadway during the course of the works.
They can also opt to use alternative routes, such as Germaine Road to Bridgeport Road to George Lee Boulevard.
