The body of a teenage boy who drowned while swimming in the Rio Cobre in St Catherine was found in the river on Saturday.

He has been identified as 17-year-old Jahdean Patterson of Spanish Town in the parish.

The police report that on Thursday, August 20, Patterson and others went for a swim in the Rio Cobre.

It is further reported that while swimming, he got into difficulties and drowned.

His associates made numerous attempts to locate his body but were unsuccessful due to the poor visibility of the water.

The teen’s body was found by members of the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard on Saturday morning and pulled from the river.

The Spanish Town police are investigating the matter.
