Dr Maureen Mullings-Nelson, the president-elect of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association, was among three people who sustained injuries and are now hospitalised following a motor vehicle accident near Duncans, Trelawny, this afternoon.

According to reports, around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Mullings-Nelson was a passenger in a burgundy Honda CR-V being driven by another woman and heading into Trelawny from Montego Bay, St James.

It is understood that on reaching the Carey Park main road, in the vicinity of the Duncans intersection, the vehicle collided with a white Honda CR-V that was travelling in the opposite direction.

Reports indicate that the white Honda drifted into the path of Mullings-Nelson’s vehicle, resulting in the collision.

Mullings-Nelson, the woman who was driving her vehicle, and the other driver sustained injuries in the crash and were assisted from their vehicles by the police and members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade.

They were all subsequently rushed to the Falmouth Public Hospital for medical treatment.
